The first time I was introduced to quantum mechanics it was in the form of notes from the Professor. I soon found out they we're not something that made much sense in my head, so I turned to other books that could enlighten me. Liboff they called the book..

The class before me had this book for their classes so I thought, why the hell not! The first impression I get from this book is that it is very comprehensive. The book consists of 16 chapters, almost 900 workable problems and a large appendix. Liboff manages to take the reader by the hand the first chapters, and gives excellent figure's which explain many situations. The flow is like taking a slow drive down the countryside, seeing almost every aspect of the world, but only from afar, leaving the closer objects more relevant for observation and understanding.

The book, starts of fast with problems comming at every time there is a new thing that needs to be learned(which is often). Some of the problems have answers to them, and others don't. This could leave the reader puzzled and annoyed that you have no reference to look into if your lost but it should not discourage the reader. There is always someone who can help nearby, the teacher, other students or perhaps your imagination.

The book requires the student to read with patience, and work with the problems at hand when they show up, and not later. The language is written in a easy readable way, which makes you want to read more(insted of sacking the book). A little issue with this book is that there are errors, (mostly writing errors) which can be annoying from time to time, but it seems that it is easy to locate these errors, and most of the time I found it easy to correct these things myself.

All in all the book gives a great introduction to quantum mechanics. Chapters 12 through 16 can be used for students who seek to further understand quantum mechanics in, for example, nuclear physics and Quantum computing. So what we see is that the book does not only cover the basics but also extends to further use.
